About Lucas Mayo

I was born in 1997 and grew up in the south of Spain. I fell in love with the game of basketball when I was 10 years old. I spent so many hours just shooting (and dunking, I broke a few hoops along the way) in my patio, recreating plays from my favourite players under the intensity of Kevin Garnett, shooting at the buzzer just like Kobe Bryant and Gilbert Arenas, dribbling the ball as if I was Jason Kidd or Steve Nash and dunking like LeBron James and Tracy McGrady. I already knew it, I wanted to play basketball for a living.

I struggled for minutes during my first years of playing with the local club. I worked hard to make a statement.

I moved to the UK at the age of 16, then I got some academy offers across the UK and one in the USA, but that wasn’t my goal, I was determined to make a difference in my area plus I liked the options I had around me. Then, as I normally say, things happen for a reason, as I was invited to work out with a BBL team close to home. Keep in mind that the BBL is the best league in the United Kingdom. I was learning from real professionals.

By the time I finished my college studies, I decided to skip university and go professional. I didn’t really know how to start, but I was determined to make it happen. It was in the summer of 2017 when I finally got an opportunity to play for a pro team in back in Spain. And that's how my professional basketball career started. 

I've met some wonderful people along the way and played with and against true basketball legends from all around the world. My dream is to have a long and successful career, make a positive impact in the community and make people happy.

My goal here is to help people, I believe that everyone deserves to shine, so I decided to write true stories that hopefully motivates you. Anything is possible, trust me. And if you’ve read all of this, I am guessing that you are ready to get started. The future is now, and it starts with you.
